In 2011, celebrating 75 years of flying here and there, Aer Lingus decided to order a new Airbus A320 painted in the carriers 60’s livery. It was a good decision.
When plane spotting, one of my trusty helpers is the Flightradar24 app. It tells me which aircrafts are on approach, when they’re scheduled to arrive, if they’re early (or late!) and what they look like. Which is how I found myself bouncing excitedly up and down on the viewing platform at Manchester Airport. I had a short list of planes I really really wanted to photograph during our 3 days in Manchester, and Aer Lingus was on the list. “There’s one on the way,” said my Better Half. And it was the retro livery version.
I love the shamrock tail.
And I love the black nose. It sure looks fancy.
